48 years of business has never looked so regal. Congratulations to Vittorio Menswear & Tuxedo, the Irondequoit Chamber’s newest Featured Business! From business meetings to the alter, Vittorio has you covered with tuxedo/suit sales and rentals for every occasion, including accessories to complete your look.
“We help guys look great for work, the weekend or any special event”, says co-owner Matt McDermott. “Years ago, we were primarily known for rental tuxedos. Now we have a well-stocked menswear department with suits for rent or purchase”.
Vittorio Barbagallo, an immigrant from Italy, came to Rochester to work in the growing clothing trade. It was only a matter of time before Barbagallo used his tailoring skills to create his own business. In 2012, when Barbagallo decided to retire, Vittoro was purchased by current owners Matthew and Jennifer McDermott. Although the business changed hands in ownership it remains a family owned operation.
When we asked McDermott why they chose Irondequoit for their business he replied, “We love Irondequoit. It has a strong family feel to it and despite having offers to locate in other suburban markets around Rochester, we have stayed right here”.
The McDermotts also say that some of their best staff members have been from right here in Irondequoit. Currently Vittorio has three staff members from Irondequoit, one in particular who has been with them since his days at Eastridge High School. Because the business experiences peak seasons the number of on staff employees ranges from 5-12.
Along with supporting the Irondequoit economy through small business and employment, the McDermotts also support a long list of organizations through events, sponsorships, and donations. Some of the large organizations they support include NeighborWorks Rochester, a housing and community development organization, and NextGen Rochester which is an initiative of the Rochester Area Community Foundation.
