In honor of Women’s History Month, the Irondequoit Chamber of Commerce is excited to present our Featured Business Award to Simply Glamorous Salon and Spa, a female owned and operated small business serving our community! SGSS is owned by life-time Irondequoit resident and Eastridge graduate Nicole Gonzalez and employees several Irondequoit residences and other EHS graduates including Salon Manager Natalie Tortoretti.
This September SGSS will celebrate their 5-year anniversary!
“Nicole had been dreaming about her own salon for years”, says Salon Marketing Manager and long-time friend Josie Weber. “I am just so proud of her for making it happen”.
Gonzalez started SGSS with two other employees and now has grown that team to include 7 stylists, a Certified Master Pedicurist/nail technician, a skin and lash expert, and Marketing Manager. Due to their uniquely large space they are currently looking to take on two more full time stylists.
The salon boasts a large open common area for clients to enjoy refreshments, treats, and relaxation and browse multiple lines of professional products and tools. The size of the salon is ideal to accommodate wedding parties and special events.
“I wanted to open a salon that had the expertise of high-end salons but with a relaxed and comfortable atmosphere where people could feel at home and excited to come spend time with us”, Gonzalez says. “I am thankful to my family and friends that helped make this dream a reality and am so incredibly grateful for all they have done and continue to do”.
SGSS offers full-service salon options from experienced and talented stylists who are invested in continued training and education. Gonzalez herself is a Goldwell Master Colorist as well as an educator to other stylists throughout the state. She prides on her team’s commitment to learning the latest trends and products to best serve their clients.
“We try to provide our clients the best experience because we understand how hard it can be to carve out a little “me-time” for them. Our atmosphere is always warm and welcoming and a safe, judgement free zone for both women and men”, says Tortoretti.
It’s not just their clients the SGSS team cares about, they also are actively involved in serving their community through several organizations including CURE Childhood Cancer Association and Children with Hair Loss as well as donate to organizations such as Guila’s Club, Sunset House, Irondequoit Little League, IPD, East Irondequoit school clubs, and even the Irondequoit Chamber.
Clients can book services at SGSS that include hair services, make-up applications, lash extensions, facials, nails and more!
