Gold Leaf Spa Joins Our List of Featured Businesses

by Josie Weber

Congratulations to Gold Leaf Spa on being our newest Featured Business!  Nestled in to a quiet corner, on the second floor of 500 Helendale Rd, is a charming retreat.  Gold Leaf Spa is a holistic day spa boasting unique furniture pieces and a calming color palate to compliment its serene ambiance.

What is a holistic day spa? At Gold Leaf Sap the staff is focused on the whole person; body, mind and spirit.  This allows the staff to craft a uniquely individual experience for each client.  Services provided at Gold Leaf Spa range from a variety of massages including hot stone and maternity to vinotherapy, body wraps, crushed cabernet scrubs and more.  Also on the spa menu is an array of esthetic services from luxury facials to light therapy that treats Seasonal Affective Disorder.  But maybe the most intriguing option is the cozy three-person infrared dry sauna tucked away in to a peaceful private room.

“Our work is more than a profession,” says owner Kate Reuter. “It is a purpose”.

Reuter attended massage school at the Onondaga School for Therapeutic Massages with aspirations of owning her own business.  As a single mother, Reuter worked hard for five years building up a strong clientele and then finally took her leap.  On March 4, 2013 Reuter began her own practice and Gold Leaf Spa was born.

Although she grew up further east of Irondequoit, she had moved here after getting married in 1991 and felt a connection with the town.  Her son attended Irondequoit schools and Reuter worked in the community at two different medical facilities prior to becoming licensed.  Her staff consists of three license massage therapists and one licensed esthetician with two of them residing in Irondequoit.

“This is our home,” Reuter proclaims. “I strive every day to make Gold Leaf Spa part of the community”.

Part of that mission included creating a free chair massage program for the military called “Project F.A.R.O.U.T.”  (Friends and Relatives of United Troops) where Reuter administered free chair massages at the 98th division in Irondequoit.  She did this once a month, for three years.  Gold Leaf Spa currently offers discounts to military members as well as college students.  Reuters also shows support throughout the community by donating gifts and services to over a dozen local causes from C.U.R.E. Childhood Cancer Association to the Seneca Park Zoo.

Need another reason to stop by Gold Leaf Spa?  Hopefully making a comeback this year will be their Annual Art Show in the fall.  Several local artists set up outside the spa to display and sell their work.  You can also check out their Annual Holiday Open House in December with amazing gift certificate specials and raffles.

A full menu for Gold Leaf Spa can be found on their website.  Be sure to follow them on Facebook to stay up to date with their business and events.
