Simply New York Marketplace & Gifts, October 2017 Featured Business

by Terra Osterling

The Irondequoit Chamber of Commerce is pleased to recognize Simply New York Marketplace & Gifts of 4364 Culver Road as the featured business for October 2017.

Simply New York Marketplace & Gifts, celebrating seven years in business this month, opened in 2010 to offer a one-stop-shop for purchasing items made in America and in New York State. Proprietors Rick and Judy Fuller of East Irondequoit were frequent customers when the original owner decided to sell the business.

“The store's ethos aligns with our own, which is to support local businesses and to 'shop simply,'" says Rick Fuller.

Many of the wares sold at Simply New York are often found at local festivals, including bath and beauty items, jewelry, clothing, books and games, home goods and décor, and specialty foods. “We really enjoy meeting so many different vendors and small business owners while traveling the state to pick up inventory," says Rick.

The Fullers put a lot of effort into maintaining the online presences of Simply New York, from Facebook interactions and an email newsletter to keeping the website up-to-date; much of Simply New York's merchandise is also available for purchase via their online store.

When not at the store, Rick Fuller is a stagehand working part time with the crew at the Eastman Theater and at the occasional rock and roll concert. Judy is a full time elementary school teacher in Hilton and spends her weekends and summers working in the store. The Fullers both love operating Simply New York as well as their “other jobs", so much that they would like to open additional locations.

Visit Simply New York Marketplace & Gifts this upcoming holiday season to take advantage of the opportunity to support a small local business and give unique quality American- and New York-made gifts.
