The Irondequoit Chamber of Commerce is pleased to recognize C.M. Armitage Electrical Contracting as our April featured business.

As C.M. Armitage Electrical Contracting Inc. prepares to celebrate 15 years in business in Irondequoit, Craig Armitage looks back on a booming business and looks forward to being a part of more exciting projects all around Monroe County.

Armitage was working for BOCES II as a teacher in the commercial and industrial electrical trades program when he founded C.M. Armitage, in 2000, as a side business. By 2007, the annual doubling of business meant Armitage would opt to leave teaching as, he says, it was important to him that students have a teacher fully focused on the classroom. That dedication to his students is evident even now as the foremen at C.M. Armitage are former students. The company last year employed 49 people.

When the business began to outgrow his home office, Armitage went to work to buy and redevelop a parcel on Washington Street, tearing down an old barn to build a state of the art facility to house C.M. Armitage Electrical Contracting. The project was completed in 2013, and the office space features doors, an office workstation, overhead lights, and a kitchenette, all re-purposed from C.M. Armitage project sites in the Rochester area.

Notable C.M. Armitage projects are the Hilton Garden Inn downtown; U of R's College Town, including Barnes & Noble and the just opened Constantino's; the Button Lofts high-end loft apartments off Monroe Avenue; and I-Square, which was particularly rewarding for Armitage as he grew up just around the corner.

A new project is across the Bay, at Abraham Lincoln Park. “Monroe County awarded us an exciting project that involves building an upscale boat house on the water, with a wraparound deck," says Armitage. The project is expected to be completed by December and will be another way for area residents to enjoy Irondequoit Bay.

C.M. Armitage Electrical Contracting provides service for residential, commercial, and industrial, including network cabling and systems for telephone, fire alarm, security, energy management, access, and video surveillance.

C.M. Armitage Electrical Contracting is located at 723 Washington Street in Irondequoit, north of Lakeshore Blvd. Find out more at cmarmitage.com, or call 585-266-0346. Craig Armitage is also a member of the Irondequoit Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors.
