As Patrick Meredith, Town of Irondequoit Commissioner of Public Works, grieves the death of his beloved wife Margaret, the community is rallying to help Pat pay off significant medical expenses accrued as the couple traveled for their recent Las Vegas wedding.
Pat and Meg sped up their wedding plans as Meg’s clear cell renal cancer progressed more rapidly than anticipated. So aggressive was the cancer that within hours of arriving in Las Vegas, Meg had to be admitted to the hospital. They were able to exchange vows there before Meg lost the ability to communicate.
A medical flight was necessary to transport Meg back to Rochester where she was able to spend her final days at home surrounded by her family and friends, with her beloved husband by her side. A ceremony to honor and celebrate Meg's life will be held at 3 p.m., Saturday, September 20, at the Gazebo on the west lawn at Irondequoit Town Hall, 1280 Titus Avenue.
A fundraiser will be held on Saturday, September 27, to help Pat with those medical travel expenses. Donations for raffles and auction are being collected. If you are able to help, please contact Bob Kiley at 313-2354 or Sarah Culp at 704-0185.
The fundraiser will be on Saturday, September 27, 4-10 p.m., at the Point Pleasant Fire Hall, 55 Ewer Avenue.
