The Irondequoit Chamber of Commerce traditionally presents beautification awards and installs new officers at its annual holiday party.
In recent years, the chamber has also honored a Citizen of the Year.
This year, the chamber has selected the late Dr. Karyl Mammano for that Citizen of the Year honor. It will be a posthumous award, as Karyl Mammano, Ph.D., died Sept. 26, 2013 after a short battle with cancer. She was 61.
Board member Greg Goater said the chamber received nine nomination letters for Mammano, who had resided in Irondequoit since about 1975.
She was a professor of accounting and finance and Director of Nonprofit Management for the Center of Community Engagement at St. John Fisher College.
