Our Deepest Condolences

Jun 1, 2021

We are devastated at the loss of our dear friend and long time board member Joseph Genier.
Joe lived his life in public service, fully engaged in the Town of Irondequoit and our community in so many ways. Through his 20 years as a County Sheriff, 28 years as our town judge, a business owner, a long time Rotarian and Chamber Member, officiant of countless marriages, a coach and Director of I.A.A. Basketball, an advocate for our beautiful library - Joe was involved, he was everywhere, and he made our town a better place.
Joe was the creator and organizer of our yearly student scholarships awarded to seniors at all three local high schools. He was also the genius behind the Chamber's annual miniature golf tournament.
No matter who was the elected person in office to run our town - Joe was undeniably the mayor.
We will miss your acerbic humor, and your unique larger-than-life personality EVERYDAY Joe - at our meetings - and at Oli's, the Parkside Diner, Pasta Villa, Genier Security, Murph's, and Cooper Del ...
-Alice Willis, Lee Steinfeld, Dave Shaheen, Rich Orczyk & the entire Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors
