The Irondequoit Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce that Jack Herrema has been selected as our Person of the Year. The award will be presented to Mr. Herrema at the Chamber's Annual Awards Dinner on January 27, 2017, at the Rochester Yacht Club.
Mr. Herrema has been an Irondequoit resident for nearly six decades, joining the community after serving in the US Navy. He began his career as an employee and subsequent owner of Herrema's Food Market, located on Pattonwood Drive. He sold the food market in 2005, but continues to work there part-time. He is a member of the Canandaigua National Bank Advisory Board in Irondequoit, was a volunteer fireman for 14 years and is now a member of the Board of Trustees of the St. Paul Blvd. Exempt Fireman's Association, serves on the Board of Directors to Sunset House, and is a great supporter of the Irondequoit Public Library and Trustee-At-Large for the Library Board.
The Beautification Awards honorees for Best New Building, Best Renovation, Best Re-purposed Building, and Best Landscaping in Irondequoit are:
Best New Building – Bill Gray's Restaurant – Seabreeze Tap Room, 4870 Culver Road.
Best Renovation – Taco Bell, 1605 East Ridge Road.
Best Re-Purposed Building – Popeye' Louisiana Kitchen, 1000 East Ridge Road.
Best Landscaping – Dreier Giltner Funeral Home, 1717 Portland Avenue.
The awards will be presented on Friday, January 27, 2017, during the Irondequoit Chamber's Annual Awards Dinner celebration at the Rochester Yacht Club. The event is open to the public.
