A ribbon cutting was held Friday, July 19th, for the opening of Durand Senior Apartments located at 4225 and 4250 Culver Road in Irondequoit. Durand Senior Apartments, owned and managed by Providence Housing Development Corporation, houses 70 affordable apartments for seniors 55+. The Durand campus has two buildings. Building A is at 4225 Culver Road where the former Durand United Church of Christ was located. Building B is located at 4250 Culver Road, where the former St. Salome Church stood, and houses Durand Senior Apartments and St. Ann's Community Adult Day Services at Durand. St. Ann's Adult Day Services provides medical and social adult day care services to both residents and other seniors in the community.
Durand Senior Apartments (DSA) consists of 65 one- and five two-bedroom apartments. All are currently rented. Seven apartments are fully wheelchair accessible. Three units are for hearing/visually impaired. All apartments are handicapped visitable or adaptable. The energy-efficient apartments have fully-equipped Energy-Star kitchens, grab bar in bathing area, laundry facilities on each floor, washer/dryer hookups in each apartment, central air conditioning and individually controlled heat and electric, plus intercom entry system and elevator access, emergency call system and sprinkler systems. A community room and free off-street parking are available for residents. DSA is smoke-free housing. To qualify for housing at DSA, one adult must be last least 55 years old. Income and occupancy requirements apply.
